Berberis Books, founded in 2002, is the imprint of writer Gillian Jones.

The most recent publication, Under The Microscope, is an imaginative re-telling of the life and times of Victorian scientist and cleric, William H Dallinger. Three times president of the Royal Microscopical Society, the Reverend Dallinger was an important player in the debate over ‘spontaneous generation’, as well as the clash of science and religion in the mid to late years of the nineteenth century.

Other titles include the Water Trilogy, three stories of ecological adventure and suspense, featuring the brave and determined Anisha. The Trilogy follows her career path from her days as a student campaigner to ethical investor with a City finance firm, and her reappearance as a hydrologist and university teacher. The theme running throughout is that of water, its vital importance for life on earth but all too frequently the cause of conflict, from neighbourhoods to nations.

Forthcoming will be the re-publication of Gillian’s first substantial work, A Misted Mirror, an imaginative account of the life of her poet husband, Keith Jones and the heart-break that comes about when chronic illness intervenes.
